How this is calculated
Selling price = Cost × (1 + Markup ÷ 100). Margin % = Profit ÷ Selling price × 100.
Markup is measured against cost; margin against the selling price. A 50% markup is a 33.3% margin — mixing them up is the most common pricing error in small retail.
